My Story
I am a mum of two - Zoë and River and step mum to Amy. I live with partner Jonny, our son River, two dogs, and two guinea pigs. I am extremely passionate about functional nutrition, naturopathy, herbal medicine and holistic healing and I enjoy creating interesting and nutrient rich dishes. I have a deep love for animals and nature and a keen interest in history, science, art and travelling. I firmly believe in the importance of daily movement that incorporates a balance of cardiovascular fitness, strength training, flexibility, and core stability.

I turned vegetarian at the age of nine out of my my concern for animal welfare, and as I grew up I became far more aware of what was healthy and what was not. My diet was far from perfect and I have had my share of health issues over the years from asthma to hypothyroidism to adrenal fatigue.
My health story in a nut shell
Having suffered from asthma in my twenties I was told I would have to be on medication for the rest of my life, however I cut out dairy, exercised more, practiced breath work and started eating a wholefood plant based diet. My asthma is now practically non-existent. Later on I found out my thyroid was functioning on the slow side but with natural medicine and lifestyle changes I healed it. Unfortunately, after the birth of my son and two years of very little sleep my adrenals were suffering and my thyroid was no longer functioning as it should. I was suffering from mild depression, exhaustion, my skin was not looking great and most of the time I just could not function well. This time I had no choice but to resort to medication, but I kept on taking care of what I ate and increased my probiotic and prebiotic rich foods, took herbal medicine - both for my adrenal fatigue and thyroid and well as for other body systems that needed support during my healing - and within 6 months my thyroid was functioning better. During this time I also suffered with bloating, stomach cramps and slow digestion so I cut out gluten, took herbal medicine for my digestive system and really focused on eating gut healing foods and avoiding inflammatory foods and now I can proudly say that I have a great digestive system. I do allow myself to let go at times, but the important thing is that I always get back on track ;-). I am now going through perimenopause and I am determined to go through the next years of my life without severe symptoms and to be able to help other women.

Why I became a Nutritional Therapist
When I was around eight years old, my father, then 49, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I grew up watching him gradually deteriorating - a talented, capable man who could fix or build almost anything. He passed away when I was 26, at the age of 67, after many years of suffering not only from Parkinson’s but also from Lewy Body disease.
There may have been several factors that contributed to his condition - from spraying crops with DDT to struggling with gut dysbiosis, both of which are now linked to Parkinson’s. But like many chronic illnesses, the exact cause remains unclear. What still stands out to me is that throughout his illness, nutrition was never once mentioned by his doctors. With the knowledge I have today, I often reflect on how dietary support could have made a difference, perhaps in easing his symptoms or improving his quality of life.
Following his death, I began taking a deeper interest in clean, chemical-free products and healthier eating, but it was a few years later, when my mother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer for the second time, that my true passion for nutrition and natural healing was sparked. That’s when I discovered naturopathy and the power of plant-based foods. I soon found myself immersed in studying phytonutrients, the impact of gut health, and the importance of natural, unprocessed food.
It was during this time that my path became clear: to become a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist and help others discover the healing potential of food and lifestyle.
My qualifications
In 2015 I started working as a part time nutrition coach after completing a diploma in nutrition coaching. At the time I started studying with The School of Natural Medicine, UK but then got pregnant in 2017 so my study journey had to slow down. In 2019, I managed to complete my healing diets coaching certificate, followed by a professional diploma in naturopathic nutrition. In 2022, I obtained my certificates from SNM in nauturopathy and iridology. I then started studying with The Health Sciences Academy in 2022, and since then I have completed advanced diplomas in gut restoration, nutritional therapy, menopause health, and a number of CPD courses on various health related subjects. I am currently studying for a university level diploma (level 7) in clinical nutrition with focus on cancer prevention and longevity, clinical weight management, diabetes, sports nutrition, stress management, and lifestyle medicine. On completion of my diploma I will be considering a Postgraduate Diploma in Personalised Nutrition at CNELM.
Throughout the years, I have taken various short courses and webinars on IBS management, perimenopause and menopause, stress management, sports nutrition, sleep hygiene, mindfulness, plant based nutrition, and epigenetics. I love learning, which is a good thing as in the nutrition business it is crucial to keep up to date with the latest science.
